
I actually used to do PSU group tests, admittedly many moons ago, but I was one of the first people doing them. There's a lot of flawed information on the internet as well and reading about things is only half of it. Don't spread bad information, it's not helpful for anyone. I'd love to say you're better off looking at PSU reviews yourself and making a judgement call, but for someone new to things, reading about the hold-up time of a half-bridge rectified DC-DC platform is probably just mumbo jumbo.And you have a lot of flawed knowledge by the look of it. The LTT one wasn't awful until they got a hate-boner for anything with a couple of poorly tuned protections or slightly above average inrush current, but now it's on equal footing with the iffy tier lists from Toms/OCN/etc. I've never seen a PSU tier list that's especially good. There are some iffy and/or outdated gold units, but some bronze units that are great. Your logical following the efficiency isn't right either - there's much more to a PSU than how efficiently it runs. Does it mean an otherwise very well built and well performing PSU should now be in the same tier as an entry level, $30, group regulated, Chinese cap, 80+ white/bronze, PSU that wasn't even that good in 2012, let alone today? Yes an OPP/OVP/etc trigger point set too high is an issue. The biggest issue is that they're excessively reactionary to missing or incorrectly tuned protection features. Tier E has heavily malfunctioning protections or far outdated and is not recommended to use with any modern system. Tier D is everything that falls short of the other tier's requirements, but can only have a potential to be dangerous in certain situations. Tier C is required to have OPP, SCP, UVP, OVP, inrush current limiting and meet c6/c7 crossloads. Tier B is required to have OPP, SCP, UVP, OVP, inrush current limiting, independent regulation and meet c6/c7 crossloads. Tier B+ is required to have OPP, SCP, OTP, UVP, OVP, inrush current limiting, independent regulation, be ACRF/Half-/Full bridge and meet c6/c7 crossloads. Tier A is required to have OCP, OPP, SCP, OTP, UVP, OVP, inrush current limiting, independent regulation, be ACRF/Half-/Full bridge and meet c6/c7 crossloads. Tier A+ is required to have OCP, OPP, SCP, OTP, UVP, OVP, inrush current limiting, well configured multirail, independent regulation, be Half-/Full bridge and meet c6/c7 crossloads. they exceed a+ requirements and stand out from the other tier units in build quality. Tier S must have OCP, OPP, SCP, OTP, UVP, OVP, inrush current limiting, well configured multirail, independent regulation, be Half-/Full bridge and meet c6/c7 crossloads.
